Chai 5 After-School
An after-school adventure with peers that allows for exploration in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment!
The Pozez JCC provides children enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade the opportunity to attend Chai 5… a five day a week program where children grow, develop, and connect with their peers. Each afternoon features fun, structured activities led by our staff. The program is designed to be a supportive environment for kids with age-appropriate programming for all.
Chai 5 operates at the Pozez JCC after school five days a week until 6pm.
Transportation or pick-up is provided from Mantua, Canterbury Woods, and Wakefield Forest Elementary Schools. Students in all elementary schools in the area are welcome to attend Chai 5 by providing their own transportation.
On Mondays and Fridays, Chai 5 participants have the opportunity to go swimming in our 25-meter, heated, indoor pool. TuesdaysâThursdays activities, planned and led by our staff, are a range of options including sports, art, and more!
No school? No problem! Check out Chai 5 Vacation Days.

Carpool & Waving GoodCHAI
CHAI 5 participants dismiss from the program every afternoon between 5:45pmâ6pm by carpool. CHAI 5 staff escort the kids to the pickup area.
If children need to be picked-up before 5:45pm, please email or call the School-Age Services office to arrange an earlier pick up (703.537.3092). Please note, by picking a child up early from the program, their ability to participate in the focused activities portion of CHAI 5 cannot be guaranteed.
What are the general carpool procedures?
Each car should have the carpool card face-up on the right-hand side of the dashboard for easy visibility.
Only people noted on the childâs authorized pick-up list will be permitted to pick up the child. Photo ID may be requested until staff become familiar with regular pick-up members.
If a child uses a car seat, it is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver in the vehicle to buckle them in.
What is the late pickup policy?
CHAI 5 ends at 6pm, all families must be in the pick-up line by that time. Any child not picked up by 6pm will wait in the lobby with a staff member and the parent/guardian will be called. If the responsible adult is late retrieving a child from the CHAI 5 program, the following policies apply:
A one-time grace period is allowed per family (if the arrival time is less than 5 minutes late); a late fee is assessed for all subsequent late arrivals as follows:
First late arrival under 5 minutes - Warning
Late Arrivals: $1.00/minute for the first 3 times
Additional Late Arrivals: $2.00/minute over 3 times
