The Pozez JCC is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course for teens ages 15 and up who are interested in gaining lifesaving skills and preparing for employment in aquatic settings.
This class prepares participants to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies in both shallow water (under 7 feet) and deep water (7 feet or more).
Participants will learn professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services arrive. The course is taught in a blended learning format, meaning students must complete required online coursework (via mobile, tablet, or desktop) prior to each instructor-led session.
Students who successfully complete the course will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate (including deep water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, valid for 2 years.
Prerequisite testing is required before registration to confirm all participants meet American Red Cross requirements. Enrollment is limited to 8 students to ensure individualized instruction and hands-on learning.
Prerequisites include:
-Minimum age 15 years
-Swim 150 yards, tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, then swim 50 yards
-Complete a timed skills test retrieving a 10lbs object from 7-12 feet and returning it to the starting point within 1 minute, 40 seconds

Wednesday-Friday, July 1–3 (3 sessions)
9:30 AM – 12:00 PM | Pozez JCC
Ages: 11-16 years old (Limited to 8 participants)
This summer, give your teen the skills and confidence to care for children safely, whether helping family or beginning their own babysitting experience. This course prepares teens with essential, real-life caregiving skills.
The program includes hands-on activities, videos, and discussions designed to build confidence and readiness in caring for children and infants. Participants will learn key skills such as feeding, diapering, safely picking up and holding children, as well as safety awareness and emergency response.
We want participants to be well prepared for emergencies; however, CPR training can be physically demanding. Participants should ideally weigh at least 85–90 pounds to fully participate in this portion of the course.
Blended Learning Format
The First Aid/CPR/AED course includes:
An online learning portion (approximately 2 hours)
An instructor-led, in-person classroom skill session
The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed internet connection.
Certification Upon Completion
Upon successful completion of both the online and in-person portions of the course, participants will receive:
A valid 10-year Babysitter’s Training digital certification
A valid 2-year digital certification for Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
Fee: $220 Pozez JCC Member/$250 Non-member
