The Hebrew Library
In Loving Memory of Daniel Ryan Crowley
Northern Virginia’s first free lending library of Hebrew-language books for adults, right here at the J.
About the Library
Hebrew books can be costly and difficult to get, so Hebrew readers in Northern Virginia have long relied on Israelis bringing back suitcases full of books, book swaps through friends, and WhatsApp groups. The Hebrew Library gives our community one welcoming place to find their next great read. The library isn’t only for Israelis. Hebrew learners and American Hebrew readers are welcome to borrow books to practice the language and enjoy modern fiction and nonfiction.
How to Borrow
- Free to borrow, simply write your name, book title, and date you borrowed on the sign in/out book sheet.

A Library Built in Memory
The Hebrew Library is a labor of love by Adi Eilat, the J’s Billing and Accounts Manager, who dedicated it to her son, Daniel Ryan Crowley. Daniel died as a baby and would have turned 20 in 2026. Now his name is on a place where our community will gather, read and share stories.
The Israeli community made this happen by donating bookshelves and books from their personal collections, as well as helping to get the word out about our new library.
