The Yoms
(The Days) 2025
Celebrate. Commemorate. Connect. B’yachad (Together).
The Yoms are Israel’s national holidays, Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day), and Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day). This is a time when we join Israel in a collective experience of national pride and joy, while also solemnly remembering the sacrifices made to secure a Jewish state and the enduring freedom of our people.
This year, we are excited to host several community events at the Pozez JCC and around Northern Virginia. Browse the event descriptions below, find what resonates with you, and join us for meaningful experiences marking the holidays.

Hosted April 17 - June 1
Zikaron BaSalon (Memories in the Living Room)
For Yom Ha’Shoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorated on April 24th), the Pozez JCC is collaborating with Zikaron BaSalon, an organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust through personal testimonies and intimate gatherings. We invite individuals and families to host meaningful discussions in their homes. Each Zikaron BaSalon gathering will be unique - reflecting diverse perspectives and personal reflections on the Holocaust and its lessons.

Zochrim: Singing in Their Memory for Yom Ha’Zikaron
Yom Ha’Zikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, is a time of profound reflection. We gather to honor fallen soldiers lost in service to Israel and the victims of terror, sharing in the collective sorrow of those left behind. Let’s join together for an evening of remembrance as we listen to five poignant Israeli songs, each carrying a unique story of sacrifice and resilience. Through these melodies, we’ll connect with the spirit of Yom Ha’Zikaron and find comfort in the shared experience. Light refreshments will be served.

Thursday, May 1, 7:00pm - 8:3pm at Pozez JCC
