Learning to swim is important for children and adolescents not only for their enjoyment but also for their safety. Our youth swim lessons offer a structured and supportive environment where participants can develop essential water safety skills, build confidence, and improve their swimming technique. Whether your child is just starting their aquatic journey or looking to refine their strokes, our experienced instructors are dedicated to providing personalized instruction to help every swimmer reach their full potential. Upcoming Summer Group Swim Lessons

Group Swim Level 1A Summer 2024

Prerequisites: Child must be willing to participate without a parent’s assistance. All children must be potty-trained. 3+.

This class is for children who have never participated in a swim class at the J or another swim school. Children will learn basic water skills using flotation devices to ensure safety and to promote confidence. Skills will include pool safety, bubble blowing, face submersion, floating, kicking, and paddling. Class is limited to four students.

Group Swim Level 1B Summer 2024

Prerequisites: Child must be willing to participate without a parent’s assistance. All children must be potty-trained. 3+.

This class is for children who have already taken Level 1 at the J or equivalent at another swim school. The goal of Level 1B is to prepare children to meet benchmarks to reach Level 2. Children build on front crawl and backstroke fundamentals. Skills will include pool safety, bubble blowing, face submersion, floating, kicking, and paddling. Class is limited to four students.

Group Swim Level 2 Summer 2024

Prerequisites: Child must be willing to participate without a parent’s assistance.  Students should be able to swim 15 yards on front or back without support. Level 1 completion is highly recommended.

Continued focus on body position, control, directional change, forward movement, students learn how to swim to safely from a longer distance than in Level 1. Developing stroke technique in front crawl, back crawl and side stroke. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg actions. Students begin to build endurance with minimal instructor support. Class is limited to four students.

Group Swim Level 3 Summer 2024

Prerequisites: Students should be able to swim 25 meters of front crawl, back crawl and beginning breast stroke. Child must be willing to participate without a parent’s assistance. Level 2 completion is recommended.

Students will further develop stroke technique and learn the four competitive strokes – freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. The emphasis on water safety continues through treading water and elementary backstroke. Class is limited to four students.

Lessons, classes and aquatic programming are available to all and do not require a J-Family membership.

Refunds/Group Class Cancellations
If registration for group class is not cancelled prior to the first day of class, a $25 handling fee will be deducted from the refund. After the start of the class, only credits are issued. Cancellation with full credit prior to class start, prorated by number of classes after start date
