Job Ops in the Community Impact and Engagement Department

Working in the Community Impact and Engagement Department is a good fit for people who are passionate about making connections and building community. Summary of Position:
The Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is actively seeking qualified, outgoing, creative, organized individuals who are excellent communicators and excels at relationship building to work part-time as J-Family Ambassadors (JFA) serving in Alexandria. As a JFA, you will help new parents meet and connect with other Jewish families in Northern Virginia and access relevant and meaningful experiences.

Qualifications:
Are you someone who is:

  • Excited to meet and welcome new parents, and get to know them informally over coffee
  • Passionate about Jewish life and interested in facilitating and participating in new opportunities for peers to meet each other
  • Self-motivated, curious and open to new ideas
  • Knowledgeable (or is willing to learn) about local offerings for new parents, both within and outside of the Jewish community
  • Enjoys working with parents of children between the ages of birth - 3 years of age
  • Able to work some evenings and weekends

Responsibilities:
Ambassadors will identify, connect and build micro-communities with the assistance of JCC staff by:

  • Participating in training/conference calls to learn and share best practices for engagement, as well as skill building to hold meaningful one-on-one conversations to facilitate connections and to develop successful social media strategies for connecting with families
  • Identifying new parents and families raising young Jewish children in our community and meeting informally with new parents to find out interests, share information on available programs and resources, and deliver J-Baby bag ‘swag’ to new families
  • Work various holiday and other events at the JCC and in the community on weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed and based on availability.
  • Plan and implement small programs for local families.
  • Contribute social media content and participate in online conversations with topics of interest to new parents
  • Complete a brief, online monthly survey to provide a ‘snapshot’ of how local families are engaging in Jewish community and provide insight for future programming based on Ambassador interactions and experiences
  • Ongoing monitoring of social media sites to learn what is already being offered for parents with young children locally and share these observations on monthly conference calls and/or at training sessions and meetings

The Pozez Jewish Community Center seeks a dynamic, flexible teacher to join our educational
team in Fairfax for our year-round, full-day early childhood center for infants through Pre-K at
the Pozez JCC's Early Childhood Learning Center. The ECLC is inspired by the Reggio Emilia
philosophy and our staff co-teach in a professional, collaborative, Jewish environment.

Qualifications:
• All applicants must have experience working with young children
• Must be organized and have excellent writing skills
• Must have experience working with young children in an early childhood setting

Essential Position Duties:
• Implement the Reggio Emilia-inspired philosophy

Hours:

Job Description:
The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing quality Personal Training and designed to meet the
needs of our members here at the Pozez JCC. Outside of their Personal Trainer position, J-Fit trainers
have the flexibility to pick up additional fitness staffing opportunities which include, but are not limited
to, group exercise classes, on-site clinics & workshops, and floor hours. The Personal Trainer reports to
the Fitness Director.

Qualifications:
• College degree in exercise science or related field preferred
• Certification in one of the following preferred: National Association of Sports Medicine
(NASM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council of Exercise (ACE),
American Fitness Aerobic Association (AFAA), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA) or other
approved nationally accredited organization
• Valid CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills to work positively with different
populations, in groups and individually
• Must be well-organized and prepared for their appointments
• Professional manner, discretion, and appearance

Classification: Part-Time and Substitute Employment

Job Description:
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing quality fitness programs and classes designed to meet the
needs of our members at the Pozez JCC. Must be comfortable teaching a variety of classes.
Outside of their Fitness Instructor position, J-Fit Instructors have the flexibility to pick up additional fitness staffing
opportunities which include, but are not limited to, personal training, private specialty training, small group training,
and on-site workshops. The Fitness Instructor reports to the Fitness Coordinator.

Qualifications:
• Group Exercise Certification or equally relevant experience
• Must be well-organized, punctual, and prepared when scheduled to instruct class
• Must be able to think independently and develop routines for teaching specific exercise classes
• Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury

Main Responsibilities:
• Establishing and maintaining a safe environment for exercising
• Arriving to teach class in advance of the scheduled time to greet participants, answer questions and address
concerns
• Arriving well-prepared, music cued, and routine thought out
• Sharing educational information with your class participants
• Teaching classes with energy and enthusiasm
• Motivating class participants to the best of your ability
• Keeping up to date on safety and fitness trends
• Reporting any equipment/facility problems to the Fitness Coordinator or management team
• Begin and end all classes on time
• Ensure that class areas are clean prior to and after classes

Hours:
Flexible, 7 days a week. Preferred times of availability: weekdays 7AM-11AM and/or 4PM-8PM.

Starting Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per class

Classification: Part-Time Employment

Position Summary:
The Support Staff is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting with J-Fit
programs, and other administrative responsibilities. The Support Staff reports directly to the Fitness
Facilities Manager.

Main Responsibilities:
- Perform assigned on-duty procedures
- Greet members upon entering the Health Club
- Cleaning and organizing the fitness center
- Upkeep of towels
- Assisting fitness class instructors and programs
- Assisting members with use of the equipment
- Provide fitness orientations to members

Other Duties as Assigned:
- Provide facility tours
- Email and call members
- Promotes J-Fit programs/activities and discuss other department programs that may assist
members with a total facility experience
- Must keep current with facility calendar – programs, events, and activities
- Participates in facility events, activities, and seminars when directed by management
- Helps ensure facility is only accessed by members and/or guests, and that it is always safe and
secure
- Accepts other tasks and assignments as requested by Fitness Facilities Manager

Qualifications:
- High school or equivalent education (Preferred)
- Fitness background (Preferred)
- CPR/AED Certified
- Must be able to prioritize responsibilities and tasks
- Punctual and reliable
- Excellent communication skills
- Works well in a team environment

Certifications may be provided after onboarding. On-the-job training will also be provided.

Hours:
Weekday and Weekend shifts. Must be willing to work a minimum of two shifts.
Opening Shift: 5 - 7 hours
Midday Shift: 5 hours
Closing Shift: 5.5 - 7 hours

Starting Salary: $15.00 – 16.00 (Hourly)

Summary of Position:
The Pozez JCC (the J) seeks Support Staff (21 years of age and older) to work at our Going Places! Social Clubs for Teens, Young Adults, and Adults with Level I Autism. Support staff will help the participants enjoy social events by interacting with all participants, helping them to socialize, stay on task, helping with behavior modification, redirecting when needed and helping the participants to have a positive experience as they interact with peers and engage in a variety of activities.

Qualifications: Applicants should have experience working with individuals with Autism.

Hours: Sundays (and on occasion other days or evenings) once a month

Compensation: $15/hr

The Pozez JCC's Inclusion and Disabilities program is committed to helping the community through activities designed to develop physical and social skills for individuals with disabilities. Seasonal Employment

Summary of Position:

The Pozez JCC seeks an experienced candidate to be our Social Skills Teacher for school-aged children (6 -12-year-olds) who would benefit from learning appropriate social interactions during cooperative play and in all social environments. Geared towards children with Level 1 Autism, ADHD, developmental delay, and/or related social communication disorders.

Social Skills curriculum typically includes but is not limited to: Turn-taking ● Cooperative play ● Sharing ● Winning/losing ● Coping strategies ● Emotional regulation ● Friendship building ● Conversation skills ● Expression

Qualifications:
• Applicants should have a master's degree with two or more years of successful experience as a Special
Education Teacher, School Psychologist, SLP, or LCSW.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, can plan and work independently as well
as collaboratively in a flexible environment.
• Possess a good sense of humor, a passion for children, and knowledge and experience in social skills
curriculum including Social Thinking, We Thinkers, Unstuck and On Target, and/or related curriculum in
addition to experience with recreation-based social activities.
• Must be creative, patient, and comfortable managing challenging behaviors.

Essential Position Duties:
• Writing and facilitating the curriculum for a group of 5-10 children
• Lead and manage support staff in helping to facilitate lessons
• Managing feedback forms and communication with parents

Hours: 2-5 classes a week with some flexibility to set class hours/schedule
