To celebrate the founding of Camp Achva, this summer's theme, “Camp is More Than a Bagel,” was inspired by the album "Jewish Is More Than a Bagel, Songs for Jewish Children," by Shirley Grossman. Each summer for many years, she wrote beloved songs about Jewish experiences and traditions that were sung from the heart by the campers. Shirley, along with our founders Adele Greenspon, Shirley Waxman, and Judy Frank, created a recipe for our camp that combined the best of camping with pride in Judaism to an awesome result. In honor of Shirley, our founders, alumni, current campers, families, staff, and the wider Pozez JCC community, we are proud to say that Camp Achva is more than a bagel!
