As a White House Correspondent for CBS News, Peter Maer reported from the White House and around the country and the world with six U.S. Presidents. From Jimmy Carter to Barak Obama, Maer covered important events including the Camp David Accords, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the days following the assassination of Itzak Rabin, and more. In addition to anecdotes, Maer will share personal photos of his encounters with these world leaders, including memorable Jewish-related experiences. A Q&A will follow his presentation. Speaker Bio: A long-time White House correspondent, Peter Maer covered the beat from 1986 until his 2015 retirement from CBS News. Maer was a voice for national news for nearly 40 years. He covered presidential politics, and major national and international disasters with honors including the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award, five Merriman Smith Awards for Presidential Coverage and the Overseas Press Award. He is the recipient of the Interfaith Alliance Walter Cronkite Faith and Freedom Award. He was inducted into the Society of Professional Journalists Hall of Fame. Maer and his wife Elizabeth are longtime members of Congregation Olam Tikvah where Peter serves on the Board of Directors.
