-Ethiopian-Israeli identity, family, and belonging
-A personal conversation with Yismaw Beyene, Shaliach at Shaarei Torah, about his story and the meaning of Sigd
Part 2: Movie: “The Band’s Visit” (90 Min)
Wednesday, December 2 | 12:00 PM–3:00 PM | Pozez JCC
A quirky comedy about an Egyptian police orchestra who arrives in Israel for a concert but strands themselves in a remote, desolate desert town due to a bus ticket misunderstanding. Over one quiet night, the local townspeople take the musicians into their homes, sparking unexpected, deeply human connections through shared food, grief, and music.
The program’s pre-film conversation will focus on cultural exchanges in Israel, funny delegations that have visited Israel, and behind-the-scenes stories about the film.
Free admission. RSVP required. We hope that you will support the Shlichut program and Israel engagement programs here: https://give.thej.org/campaign/723271/donate
