Yiddish 1: A Taste of Yiddish Continued – Fall 2024 Session (Virtual)

Thursday, September 12 @ 2:00 pm 3:30 pm

Beginners and those with a little knowledge are welcome! We will review the Hebrew alphabet and learn the rudiments of reading. (Yiddish is phonetic and much easier than Hebrew). We will study a primary-grade Yiddish book and converse about it in Yiddish. We’ll also learn to say useful phrases and how to ask important questions. Jokes, proverbs, songs, and even a few curse words, will not be ignored. Study materials will be provided via email and Word documents, in Hebrew letters as well as in transliteration. Learn this hybrid language used by our ancestors, that has become quite popular today!
