The People’s House: A White House Experience
Thursday, January 9 @ 10:30 am – 4:00 pm
Created by the White House Historical Association, The People’s House: A White House Experience, is a new cutting-edge educational experience located in Washington, D.C., just one block from the White House. The educational museum tells the story of the Executive Mansion, its inhabitants and the people who have dedicated their careers to its functions. The space opened on September 23, 2024.
Situated on 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, the 33,000-square-foot three-floor site features exhibits and galleries bringing the White House and its storied history to life. Visitors can interact with a large-scale White House model, recreation of the Rose Garden, full-scale replica of the Oval Office, recreation of White House moments and more dimensional galleries combining immersive media and inventive scenic representations. The visit will start with a self-guided exploration of the exhibits, followed by a lecture about First Families in the White House.
Before the tour, we will have lunch at Immigrant Food – White House (at own cost) 1701 Pennsylvania Ave NW (https://immigrantfood.com/). This eclectic restaurant with a menu celebrating global flavors has a beautiful patio overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue. The menu is an ode to immigrant gastronomies; it’s a fun, healthy culinary representation of America’s immigrant diversity.
After the tour, there will be time for the gift shop and maybe a bit more of the exhibits before we head home at 3:15pm. Light snacks will be provided for the bus ride home.
Note: The trip is limited to 21 participants on a first come, first served basis.
Bus leaves Pozez JCC at 10:30am; returns approximately 4:00pm (Guided tour at 1:00pm)
