Session Begins: The Sunday Kitchen, Online Cooking Class

Sunday, October 5 @ 5:00 pm 6:00 pm

Sundays, October 5-November 16 (6 weeks, no class Nov. 2)
For neurodiverse teens and adults, 16+ years old

Join us on Sunday evenings, from the comfort of your own home, to learn to cook meals together. The course will cover meal preparation, including reading recipes, measuring, and food safety, in addition to providing information on adapted cooking tools and techniques. The class is based on the book, “Teaching Authentic Cooking Skills to Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Active Engagement” by Janice Goldschmidt. After class on October 19th, Janice will lead a Q&A session about her book and teaching cooking skills.

Before the start of the class, participants will receive the virtual link, recipes, and a list of tools. A weekly shopping list of the ingredients needed for that Sunday’s class will be sent to participants. The cooking demonstration will be recorded and sent out to all participants.

About the Instructor: Stacy Engels has been teaching this cooking class for the Down Syndrome Association of Northern VA for the past 5 years.

Fee: $90 Members/ $100 Non-members
