Make, Create, Celebrate: A High Holiday Mixed Media Art Workshop
Thursday, September 3 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Join us for a mixed media workshop exploring the holy and mundane of everyday life. As we gather together, we will prepare ourselves for the holiest days in the Jewish calendar–Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We will cut papers, paint, draw and play as we create a personal blessing, hope or prayer for the new year.
No artistic or previous Jewish knowledge required. All materials and lots of guidance and support provided. This workshop is for adults and older teens.
During the event, we will also have a short tour of the Sacred and Ordinary… Joyful works from Jewish Tradition and Everyday Life by Julie Wohl led by the artist herself!
Wine and cheeses will be provided.
Fee: $20 JCC Members/ $25 Non-members
Upcoming Exhibit by the Artist:
Sacred and Ordinary… Joyful works from Jewish Tradition and Everyday Life
By Julie Wohl
August 31-October 19, 2026
Using mixed media, painting, digital illustration and soft sculpture, Julie Wohl presents a vision of living Jewish life out loud–connecting sacred imagery, text and song, and ritual with contemporary depictions of ancient ideas. Her motifs showcase the musings of the artist, grappling with 2,000 years of history and culture.
With a career as an educator, storyteller, and artist that spans over 20 years, Julie returns again and again, with fresh eyes and new materials, to the themes of joyful, lived Judaism and the beauty found in everyday life.
Julie Wohl is the Director of Congregational Learning at Baltimore Hebrew Congregation and the founder of “The Studio” a Jewish text-based community art studio. She received her master’s degree in Jewish education from the Jewish Theological Seminary. She is the author of “Make, Create, Celebrate! Jewish Holidays Through Art”, the co-author and illustrator of “Siddur Mah Tov: a Family Shabbat Prayer Book” and “Simply Seder: a Family Haggadah.”
