J-Family Field Trip: Explore Calvert Cliffs with a Geologist
Sunday, August 17 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Join geologist and J-Family Ambassador Stacey for a hands-on, family-friendly adventure at Calvert Cliffs! Discover the incredible history behind these massive formations, created over 10 million years ago when Southern Maryland was covered by a shallow sea. As the cliffs eroded, they began revealing fossils of prehistoric creatures like sharks, whales, rays, and even seabirds the size of small airplanes!
This special field trip includes time to explore the beach, hunt for fossils, and enjoy the park’s many amenities, including hiking trails, marshland, and a recycled tire playground. It’s a perfect summer outing for curious kids and adventurous adults!
Please plan to arrive at the park between 10:00-10:15 AM, it is about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Pozez JCC. Feel free to bring a picnic!
Space is limited. Registration closes August 14th.
Fee: $10 per family (paid at registration)
Park Admission: Cash only at the gate — $5/vehicle for MD residents; $7/vehicle for out-of-state residents
