ReelAbilities: Film Screening at the J
Tuesday, February 17 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Film screening: “The Trouble with Mr. Doodle”
Join us for a special screening of “The Trouble with Mr. Doodle,” a 90-minute documentary from the acclaimed makers of “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” “Searching for Sugar Man,” and “Man on Wire.” This intimate film explores the world of Sam Cox—known globally as Mr. Doodle—whose compulsive, all-consuming drawings transformed him into an international sensation. With social media videos viewed by millions, Cox’s work reveals the delicate balance between creativity and chaos, and the profound impact art can have on everyday life. As he navigates fame, relationships, and mental health, Cox and his family learn to embrace his singular vision and the unexpected beauty it brings.
After the film, join us for a discussion with Matt Makara whose art can be see in our Bodzin Gallery and Artstream, who through collaborative performance and lifelong learning opportunities work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Fee: $10 Members/$15 Non-members
