If so\, join the JCC Community Choir – Makheylah! This is a great opportunity to connect musically to the Jewish tradition. The choir is open to high schoolers\, college students\, and adults of all ages in Northern Virginia.  All singing abilities are welcome!  Our choir has something for everyone; experienced singers will receive advanced material\, singers with moderate choral or vocal background will be well-engaged\, and those who just hum a little will fit right in! \n\n\n\nOur repertoire will range from secular to religious and include synagogue music\, Yiddish theater\, folksongs\, and Israeli songs. She was the choir director at Ohr Kodesh for its High Holiday Choir from 1989-2008 and directed a local klezmer band.

Over eight classes\, you will learn the alphabet including vowels\, important vocabulary\, grammar\, and common phrases and sentences/questions using a variety of resources.  \n\n\n\nEach student must purchase the textbook: Hebrew from Scratch Part 1 (available new on Amazon). This is a great opportunity to connect musically to the Jewish tradition. The choir is open to high schoolers\, college students\, and adults of all ages in Northern Virginia.  All singing abilities are welcome!  Our choir has something for everyone; experienced singers will receive advanced material\, singers with moderate choral or vocal background will be well-engaged\, and those who just hum a little will fit right in! \n\n\n\nOur repertoire will range from secular to religious and include synagogue music\, Yiddish theater\, folksongs\, and Israeli songs. Over eight sessions\, you will learn important vocabulary\, grammar\, and common phrases and sentences/questions using a variety of resources.  \n\n\n\nEach student must purchase the textbook: Hebrew from Scratch Part 1 (available new on Amazon). The book uses quotations from all eras of Hebrew writing and has a Hebrew-English Dictionary which includes all vocabulary and grammatical terminology.
