FMMC has been performing in the DMV for more than 30 years\, bringing free classical music to diverse audiences. SUMMARY:J-Talks: “The Boys From the Bronx” with Author Eric K. Reisman
DESCRIPTION:This program is brought to the community by Pozez JCC and its J-Men’s Group.Join us to hear this fascinating story by author Eric K. Reisman in conversation with friend and radio broadcaster\, Mark Lapidus. \n\n\n\n“The Boys from the Bronx” is the true story of 11-year-old boys from the East Bronx who started a sports club in 1938 and remained friends for a lifetime. Synthesizing information from their letters written during and after the war\, and through videotaped interviews\, Eric Reisman\, son of founding group member Bernie Reisman (a distinguished professor of Jewish Communal Services at Brandeis University)\, recounts the story of the Trojans’ brotherly love. \n\n\n\nA first-time author\, Reisman wanted to memorialize this amazing group and explore the influences that shaped their long-lasting friendships. Even if you aren’t familiar with James Monroe High School\, the Ward Theater\, Bronx River Parkway\, Wheeler & Elder Avenue\, and Hymie’s Candy Store\, you will be inspired by the power of this rare male friendship that lasted over 70 years. \n\n\n\nPlease join us for a nostalgic look at stories of brotherly love forged in times of war and peace. If you grew up in NYC\, especially the Bronx\, this presentation will surely resonate with you! Books are available on Amazon in paperback\, hardcopy\, and Kindle versions\, however\, Eric will bring copies for purchase and signing at the event. Please join us for a nostalgic look at stories of brotherly love forged in times of war and peace. \n\n\n\nFee: ComplimentaryAges 13+
