SUMMARY:A Conversational Reading on Creative Aging - Gainesville
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Pozez JCC Adult Outreach Program \n\n\n\nFeaturing Wendy L. Miller\, clinician and author of “Sky Above Clouds: Finding our way through creativity\, aging\, and illness” \n\n\n\nIs age simply a number? Can we age wisely? Wendy Miller and her late husband Gene Cohen (one of the founding fathers of geriatric psychiatry) uncovered new clues about how the aging mind can build resilience and continue to grow\, even during times of grave illness\, upending the traditional paradigm of aging as a time of decline. Join us for her enlightening presentation\, readings\, and a conversation together on how to navigate aging and illness with the right tool kit. Light Refreshments will be served; kashrut observed. \n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker: \n\n\n\nWendy L. Miller\, www.sky-above-clouds.com\, is the Co-founder of the Create Therapy Institute\, an Integrative Arts Medicine Studio\, which houses her private practice in expressive arts therapy. Her skills take her into the worlds of fine art\, writing\, psychology\, expressive arts therapy and mind-body medicine. She has published on medical illness and the arts as complementary medicine\, the use of sand tray therapy with internationally adopted children\, experiential approaches to supervision in expressive arts therapy\, and on the cultural responsibility of the arts in therapy.

SUMMARY:Trip to Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Production of “Leopoldstadt”
DESCRIPTION:Tony and Olivier award-winning play by Tom Stoppard. Directed by Carey Perloff; Produced in association with The Huntington \n\n\n\nThe show tells the story of how a Jewish family grows and struggles over the course of nearly 60 years\, beginning with their initial assimilation into Viennese culture\, negotiating the outbreak of two World Wars through to the aftermath of the Holocaust. Traversing decades of joy and strife\, the family strives to maintain their delicate bonds of shared history. The show is a new arrangement by celebrated playwright/director Carey Perloff that she crafted with Stoppard. “Leopoldstadt” offers “an intensely personal family drama” (Variety) for the holiday season. \n\n\n\nJoin us for the show\, then afterwards\, we will make a stop at the Jukebox Diner in Annandale for coffee and dessert (on own tab). Lattes\, apple pie and more! https://jukeboxdiner.com \n\n\n\nPlease eat a hearty breakfast before heading to the J; the show begins at noon\, with no time for lunch beforehand.
