SUMMARY:Service as a Mitzvah: Honoring Those Who Serve
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of learning\, gratitude\, and hands-on service as we explore what it means to serve others. \n\n\n\nInspired by Veterans Day and the Jewish values of service\, this family-friendly program will explore ways people serve their communities in the United States and Israel. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn about the tradition of service in both countries and discover how service to others can be a meaningful mitzvah. \n\n\n\nTogether\, children and families will take action by creating Hanukkah care packages for American & Israeli soldiers. Participants are encouraged to bring a pair of new socks to include in the care packages. \n\n\n\nThis special afternoon will be presented in partnership with FIDF and ‘Sword of Iron Israel Volunteer Corps’ and will offer children ages 8+ and their parents an opportunity to learn\, create\, give back\, and express gratitude to those who serve. \n\n\n\nThis program is free. RSVP required. We hope that you will support the Shlichut program and Israel engagement programs here: https://give.thej.org/campaign/723271/donate

SUMMARY:A Salute to Veterans and Holocaust Survivors (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we honor those who have served our country and fought for freedom and democracy. This Veterans Day\, we honor the men and women of the military whose service was part of a noble 250-year-old cause – life\, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – for all. On the heels of Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass)\, we also pay tribute to those persecuted for their religious beliefs\, specifically Holocaust survivors. \n\n\n\nExperience a candid\, moving and unexpectedly funny father-and-son conversation between David Diamond (father) and Todd Diamond (son)\, author of Pass the Trauma\, Please\, an unconventional memoir that uses humor to help audiences enter the darkness of the Holocaust. In addition to uncovering extraordinary stories of survival\, loss\, resilience and family secrets\, it will explore concepts larger than the book itself: Why survivors remain silent\, why the next generation hesitates to ask\, what trauma and memory get passed between generations\, and why preserving testimony has never been more urgent. \n\n\n\nPart Holocaust history\, part incredible family story\, and part call to action\, the program asks a simple\, but important question of all of us: Who in your life still has a story you haven’t asked them to tell? \n\n\n\nFee: Complimentary to all. Light patriotic refreshments will be served. Ages 18+Donations to the Pozez JCC are greatly appreciated\, here: https://give.thej.org/campaign/735109/donate \n\n\n\nQuestions?
