SUMMARY:Gather and Grow: Apple Picking in Northern Virginia
DESCRIPTION:New Location: Great Country Farms\, Bluemont\, VAFall is calling\, and we are answering! This year we are heading to Great Country Farms for a day of apple picking\, farm fun\, and community connection in the gorgeous Blue Ridge foothills. Due to this winter’s freeze affecting local orchards\, we have found a wonderful new home for our annual outing and we think you are going to love it. \n\n\n\nGreat Country Farms is a working family farm bursting with fall magic: apple and pumpkin picking\, a corn maze\, farm animals\, a jump pillow\, slides\, wagon rides\, and so much more. During Apple Gala and Cider Fest season\, there is truly something for every age from the littlest ones to grandparents and everyone in between. Come hungry\, come curious\, and come ready for a full day outside. \n\n\n\nWhat is included:A $15 per person wristband covers all farm fun and our special High Holiday activities with the group. Children under 3 are free. Apples are picked and paid for separately while you are at the farm. This is a full day the farm is open to us from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm\, so take your time and enjoy every bit of it. \n\n\n\nFinding us:Meet the Growing Jewish Families group at the giant cow from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM for wristband pickup and group activity information. Arriving at a different time? No problem just contact us in advance and we will make sure you are taken care of. \n\n\n\nA few notes: \n\n\n\n\nPlease bring your own picnic blanket or camp chairs for outdoor seating.\n\n\n\nWe will not have a group photographer this year\, so bring your own cameras to capture the memories.\n\n\n\nIf the cost of attendance is a barrier for your family\, please reach out to us privately\, we never want cost to be the reason a family cannot join us.\n\n\n\n\nWe are so grateful to be joining forces with our amazing community partners Congregation Beth Emeth\, Gesher Jewish Day School\, and Temple Beth Torah to make this day possible. \n\n\n\nFee: $15 per person over 3 year of age\, Under 3 – Free admission\, you must still register

SUMMARY:Double Take Israel: Belonging & Home
DESCRIPTION:Attend one or both film screenings and discussions! \n\n\n\nPart 1: Movie: “Operation Grandma” (97 minutes)Wednesday\, August 26\, 12:00 PM-2:30 PM \n\n\n\nPart 2: Movie: “In Between”Wednesday\, September 16\, 12:00 PM- 3:30 PM \n\n\n\nHow does the place we come from shape who we are? What happens when the community we grew up in begins to change? And how do different ways of living in Israel shape identity\, family\, belonging\, and freedom? \n\n\n\nJoin us for a new Double Take Israel series exploring belonging in Israeli society through two iconic Israeli films and meaningful conversations before each screening. \n\n\n\nOur first screening will feature “Operation Grandma” (97 minutes)\, a hilarious Israeli cult classic following three very different brothers racing against time to fulfill their grandmother’s last wish – to be buried in the kibbutz cemetery. RSVP required. We hope that you will support the Shlichut program and Israel engagement programs here.
