DESCRIPTION:If you like to sing and are interested in singing Jewish songs\, join the JCC Community Choir! This is a great opportunity to connect musically to the Jewish tradition. The choir is open to high schoolers\, college students\, and adults of all ages in Northern Virginia.  All singing abilities are welcome!  Our choir has something for everyone: experienced singers will receive advanced material\, singers with moderate choral or vocal background will be well-engaged\, and those who just hum a little will fit right in! \n\n\n\nOur repertoire ranges from secular to religious and includes synagogue music\, Yiddish theater\, folksongs\, and Israeli songs. We sing in various languages\, too: Hebrew\, English\, Yiddish\, Ladino\, and others. The session will include one or two short performances (tbd). DESCRIPTION:Join us for our 3rd Annual HorizonWALKS on Sunday\, April 14th at the Jumbotron at National Harbor in Oxon Hill\, MD. HorizonWALKS will bring together teams and families in-person to reach our $125\,000 goal. \n\n\n\nHorizon Day Camp is the DMV’s ONLY full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings\, ages 3 1/2 to 16\, offered completely free of charge. There is no other summer program like this in the Greater Washington Area. Every dollar raised stays in the DMV. \n\n\n\nCheck-in and fun family activities start at 8:00AM and our short one-mile walk will begin at 9AM.

This month we are joining Tot Shabbat at Fauquier Jewish Congregation for a Sammy Spider’s Birthday Party Tot Shabbat.Join with the preschool for a fun Birthday Party Tot Shabbat featuring Sammy Spider themed stories\, birthday cake\, activities\,  prayers\, and party favors!  The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.  A GJF staff person will be there to welcome you. While Tot Shabbats are designed for toddlers and preschoolers\, the whole family is invited to attend. \n\n\n\nAfter the Tot Shabbat\, you are invited to stay and join the Vegetarian/Dairy FJC Congregational dinner as our guests and if you choose to you are welcome to stay for the family friendly Kabbalat Shabbat Service that starts at 7pm\, followed by a dessert Oneg.  We have the FJC kids area set up for our youngest members to enjoy during services.  We look forward to meeting you.

SUMMARY:Trip to Theater J in DC to see "Hester Street" (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this theatrical adaptation of the beloved 1975 film by Joan Micklin Silver. Faced with the disintegration of her marriage in a world she can barely comprehend\, Gitl must find her voice\, protect her son\, and redefine her identity. Hester Street is an unforgettable show\, awash in the humor\, heartbreak and hope essential to the Jewish immigrant experience. \n\n\n\nFollowing the show\, we will head back home after making a stop at the fabulous Jake’s Ice Cream in Falls Church (ice cream not included in trip fee). This scoop shop employs a staff of differently-abled adults  who are dedicated to serving up 28 flavors of small-batch ice cream made on site! \n\n\n\nPlease have a hearty breakfast before arriving and/or bring a dairy or pareve lunch to be eaten at Theater J before the show. We will provide a simple snack and bottled water to be eaten on the bus (before or after the show). \n\n\n\nNote: This trip is limited to 20 participants on a first come\, first served basis. Tickets are transferable\, but not refundable. \n\n\n\nBus departs the J at 11am and returns approximately 3:45pm.

SUMMARY:JCC Community Choir/Makheylah (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:If you like to sing and are interested in singing Jewish songs\, join the JCC Community Choir! This is a great opportunity to connect musically to the Jewish tradition. The choir is open to high schoolers\, college students\, and adults of all ages in Northern Virginia.  All singing abilities are welcome!  Our choir has something for everyone: experienced singers will receive advanced material\, singers with moderate choral or vocal background will be well-engaged\, and those who just hum a little will fit right in! \n\n\n\nOur repertoire ranges from secular to religious and includes synagogue music\, Yiddish theater\, folksongs\, and Israeli songs. We sing in various languages\, too: Hebrew\, English\, Yiddish\, Ladino\, and others. The session will include one or two short performances (tbd). Come – let’s sing! \n\n\n\nFees (include sheet music):  General Adult – $145; Active-Duty Military/Veterans – $120; Students: $90 \n\n\n\nDirector’s Bio: \n\n\n\nP’nina Plotkin McCabe has a bachelor in music from UCLA and a “Teudat Oman” (Artist Diploma) from the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Israel. Ms. McCabe led an adult choir at the JCC from 1990-1999 and then conducted a choir at Gesher from 2010-2019\, while her children attended school there.
