DESCRIPTION:Join us at Oakton Community Park (2841 Hunter Mill Rd Oakton\, VA 22124) for a lesson from Oakton naturalists on invasive species. Volunteer naturalists Karin and Willow will give us a tour of the local habitat and help us identify native and invasive species. We will then work with them to clear the invasive species from this park and restore the natural habitat. Plan to be outside for about 2H\, water and light snack will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Led by P’nina Plotkin McCabe\, Choir Director. \n\n\n\nDo you like to sing? Are you interested in singing Jewish songs? If so\, join the JCC Community Choir – Makheylah! This is a great opportunity to connect musically to the Jewish tradition. The choir is open to high schoolers\, college students\, and adults of all ages in Northern Virginia.  All singing abilities are welcome!  Our choir has something for everyone; experienced singers will receive advanced material\, singers with moderate choral or vocal background will be well-engaged\, and those who just hum a little will fit right in! \n\n\n\nOur repertoire will range from secular to religious and include synagogue music\, Yiddish theater\, folksongs\, and Israeli songs. Photography by Samantha Rose Mandeles.When we think of eastern Africa today\, we usually don’t think of a concentration of Jews. But miraculously\, one such vibrant community exists! The Abayudaya\, who number about 2\,000 souls\, are concentrated in a few towns and villages in eastern Uganda and western Kenya.
