SUMMARY:"Make A Circle" Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:A film by Jen Bradwell and Todd Boekelheide. Presented by Pozez JCC’s ECLC and the NVAEYC\, an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). \n\n\n\n6:30pm: Doors open7:00pm: Film ScreeningDuring NAEYC’s Week of the Young Child\, April 5-11\, 2025\, NVAEYC and Pozez JCC’s ECLC will co-sponsor MAKE A CIRCLE\, a film that confronts a broken child care system where\, “Parents can’t afford to pay\, and teachers can’t afford to stay.” \n\n\n\nThe film captures the unfolding stories of Patricia\, a leader of a new childcare union\, as she advocates on behalf of a largely immigrant workforce. Charlotte\, who tirelessly lifts up the low-income families in her care; and Anne\, the director of a large preschool\, who finds novel ways to support her teachers when jobs at McDonald’s are offering higher pay. \n\n\n\nWeaving together the magic they create in the classroom\, the struggles they endure at home\, and their tireless activism for their profession\, MAKE A CIRCLE is a moving portrait of life as an Early Childhood Educator and a promising blueprint for change.

SUMMARY:JxJ Presents: Bad Shabbos
DESCRIPTION:Daniel Robbins’ entertaining\, fast-paced comedy about a Sabbath dinner gone terribly awry won the top audience prize at the Tribeca Festival. SUMMARY:JxJ Presents: Charles Grodin: Rebel with a Cause
DESCRIPTION:Charles Grodin’s extraordinary life and career as an actor-comedian and broadcast personality take center stage in this rich and multifaceted portrait of a consummate performer who infused humor with heart. A master of dry wit and deadpan delivery\, Grodin captivated audiences with beloved performances in The Heartbreak Kid\, Midnight Run\, and countless sharp-witted late-night TV appearances. Raised in a Jewish household in Pittsburgh\, Charles Grodin’s life embodied the concept of tikkun olam. In his later years\, Grodin quietly turned his focus to championing meaningful causes\, using his platform as a CNBC talk show host to advocate for justice and pressing social issues. \n\n\n\nThrough a treasure trove of film and TV clips\, insightful interviews\, and heartfelt reflections\, this vibrant tribute remembers a singular talent who left an indelible mark on both entertainment and humanity. \n\n\n\nConversation with director James L. Freedman moderated by Pozez JCC Executive Director Jeff Dannick following the screening. \n\n\n\nAbout JxJ: Presented by the Edlavitch DCJCC\, JxJ encompasses the Washington Jewish Film and Music Festivals\, alongside a year-round film and music program. SUMMARY:JxJ Presents: 31 Candles
DESCRIPTION:This heartwarming and hilarious romantic comedy inspired by director Jonah Feingold’s own experiences centers on Leo Kadner (played by Feingold)\, a 31-year-old New Yorker who unexpectedly decides to have his long-overdue Bar Mitzvah after a chance encounter with his former summer camp crush\, Eva Shapiro (Sarah Coffey). \n\n\n\nAs Leo navigates the ups and downs of growing up—situationships\, exes\, and the quirks of family—he embarks on a Mitzvah project that just might help him finally mature. This charming independent film delves into themes of tradition\, identity\, and the lengths one will go for a second chance at love. \n\n\n\nThis program is proudly sponsored by Rhoda and Daniel Glickman. \n\n\n\nAbout JxJ: Presented by the Edlavitch DCJCC\, JxJ encompasses the Washington Jewish Film and Music Festivals\, alongside a year-round film and music program. JxJ gives exposure to independent filmmakers and musical artists working in the Jewish and/or Israeli space. Each spring\, the annual Festival is held on stages and screens throughout DC\, Virginia\, and Maryland. \n\n\n\nThe Pozez JCC is proud to bring these cultural films to Northern Virginia through its partnership with Edlavitch DCJCC.

SUMMARY:JxJ Presents: Mazel Tov
DESCRIPTION:From acclaimed Argentinean actor and director Adrián Suar comes a heartfelt\, humorously touching tale of family\, forgiveness\, and the ties that bring us back home. When Dario Roitman returns from the U.S. to Argentina for a family wedding and Bat Mitzvah\, he anticipates the usual family drama. But his carefully laid plans for a family reunion are suddenly upended when he learns\, just hours before his flight\, that his father has passed away. As the Roitmans gather for the funeral\, old wounds resurface\, and longstanding tensions reach a boiling point. \n\n\n\nDespite the emotional turmoil\, Dario remains determined to celebrate both the wedding and Bat Mitzvah\, even if it means challenging tradition and risking further discord. Navigating grief\, sibling rivalry\, and delightfully eccentric grudges\, the Roitmans reveal the messy yet enduring love of family. \n\n\n\nThis program is proudly sponsored by the Embassy of Argentina. \n\n\n\nAbout JxJ: Presented by the Edlavitch DCJCC\, JxJ encompasses the Washington Jewish Film and Music Festivals\, alongside a year-round film and music program.
