DESCRIPTION:Every day\, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims\, heart surgery and organ transplant patients\, and those battling cancer. In fact\, every two seconds\, someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is likely that you or someone you know will need a blood transfusion in your lifetime. \n\n\n\nDonors of all blood types are critically needed\, especially those with type O blood. \n\n\n\nThe blood donation process from the time you arrive until the time you leave takes about an hour. The donation itself is only about 8-10 minutes on average. In order to qualify for whole blood donation\, you must be in good health and feeling well\, at least 16 years of age (with signed parental consent) and weigh at least 110 lbs. Additional eligibility criteria apply\, including certain medications\, medical conditions\, travel to certain countries\, and personal history. \n\n\n\nPre-registered participants only. No walk-ins. This is a great opportunity to connect musically to the Jewish tradition. \n\n\n\nThe choir is open to high schoolers\, college students\, and adults of all ages in Northern Virginia. All singing abilities are welcome! Our choir has something for everyone; experienced singers will receive advanced material\, singers with moderate choral or vocal background will be well-engaged\, and those who just hum a little will fit right in! \n\n\n\nOur repertoire ranges from secular to religious and encompasses a wide range of Jewish music. We have sung liturgical music\, Yiddish theater songs and folksongs\, Ladino selections\, Israeli pop songs – so much to choose from! We present short performances (tbd)\, too. Ms. McCabe led an adult choir at the JCC from 1990-1999 and then conducted a choir at Gesher from 2010-2019\, while her children attended school there. She was the choir director at Ohr Kodesh for its High Holiday Choir from 1989-2008 and directed a local klezmer band.
