This film weaves Flory’s compelling personal story\, warmly told by Flory and her family\, with selections from her highly acclaimed concert at the Library of Congress in 2014. DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, September 18-December 18 (12 classes; no class Oct. 2\, Nov. 27)Instructor: Norman BuderAges: 18+ \n\n\n\nAdvanced beginners and those with some prior knowledge are welcome to join this ongoing course. Students must be comfortable with the Hebrew alphabet to learn the rudiments of reading. (Yiddish is phonetic and much easier than Hebrew.) \n\n\n\nParticipants will study classic Yiddish stories to learn a significant amount of vocabulary\, useful phrases\, how to ask essential questions\, and how to read Yiddish. Jokes\, proverbs\, songs\, and even a few curse words will be included; however\, this is not a conversational Yiddish course. Discover this hybrid language used by our ancestors\, which has gained popularity today. \n\n\n\nStudents will need to log into Zoom on a device each week. All materials will be provided via email\, in both Hebrew and transliteration. \n\n\n\nFee: $132 Members/$152 Non-members
