DESCRIPTION:La Lucha follows the inspiring journey of Feliza\, Mareele\, Rose Mery\, and Miguel\, who led a powerful movement advocating for the rights of people with disabilities. Over the course of 35 days and 250 miles\, they rally hundreds of supporters as they trek across the harsh Andes to reach the Bolivian capital. Enduring hunger\, extreme conditions\, and facing obstacles such as barricades\, riot police\, and hostility\, these brave activists press on with unwavering determination. \n\n\n\nTheir relentless fight ultimately leads them to La Paz\, where they rewrite national history. Following the screening\, a panel discussion will dive into the topic of disability advocacy\, exploring how individuals can make a meaningful difference in the fight for rights and equality.  \n\n\n\nPresenter: Northern Virginia Community College – Alexandria Campus / Accommodations and Accessibility Services \n\n\n\nReelAbilities Film Festival: Greater Washington is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives\, stories and artistic expressions of people with disabilities. SUMMARY:Volunteer Services Presents: Power Packs at Food for Others
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly community service event at a local food bank. Each month\, we will gather at Food for Others Warehouse in Fairfax to help sort and pack food items\, creating ‘power packs’ for local schools. No experience is needed—just a willingness to lend a hand and passion to help. Come be a part of this initiative\, help us spread kindness in our community and enjoy conversation with fellow volunteers!  \n\n\n\nRSVP in advance so we can provide Food for Others an attendance estimate seven days prior to each session. \n\n\n\nParking is very limited\, carpooling is encouraged.
