SUMMARY:J-Talks presents: "Pass the Trauma\, Please" with local author Todd Diamond
DESCRIPTION:In commemoration of Yom HaShoah\, Holocaust Remembrance DayIn his forward of the memoir\, former ADL national director\, Abe Foxman\, says “Pass the Trauma\, Please” is an original\, provocative\, and even a bit irreverent narrative of a second-generation Holocaust survivor. Diamond writes an atypical viewpoint that demonstrates how trauma affects future generations of descendants (and others). His premise is derived from a scientific NYC hospital paper that found genetic changes in children of Holocaust survivors who survived the horrors of the Shoah. Diamond’s memoir uniquely links this past tragedy to present day (post-October 7th) global antisemitism. \n\n\n\nJoin us for an unusual and distinctive perspective on the Holocaust and trauma that weaves loss\, love\, laughter and legacy together. A book sale and signing will follow the event. \n\n\n\nFee: Complimentary. Registration required. Donations to JCC Adult Programming are appreciated. \n\n\n\nClick here to view additional Yoms programming.

SUMMARY:For the Sake of Argument: Workshop on Healthy Disagreement
DESCRIPTION:In a time when conversations about Israel and the Jewish world can feel charged\, emotional\, or even impossible\, this 90-minute interactive workshop offers practical tools for engaging across differences with confidence\, curiosity\, and care. \n\n\n\nLed by Abi Dauber Sterne\, co-founder of For the Sake of Argument (FSA)\, the workshop invites participants to practice having meaningful\, respectful disagreements — not just talk about them. \n\n\n\nUsing carefully crafted stories that provoke differing perspectives on issues central to Israel and the Jewish world\, participants will experience what it truly means to engage in a “healthy argument.” \n\n\n\nAbout: For the Sake of Argument is an educational initiative with Israel education at its core.
