DESCRIPTION:Pack Meals. Build Community. Make a Difference. \n\n\n\nFor 30 years\, VolunteerFest has brought together hundreds of people each fall for a day of action\, connection\, and real impact in Northern Virginia. This year\, we are setting our sights high with a goal to pack 75\,000 nutritious meals to help fight hunger in our community. These meals will go directly to local residents who need them most. \n\n\n\nThe need is urgent. The Capital Area Food Bank reports that more than one million people in our region are food insecure\, including one in ten children who do not always know where their next meal will come from. \n\n\n\nHow YOU can get involved: JOIN on Monday\, November 3 at the Pozez JCC to pack meals during one of two shifts: \n\n\n\n9am – 11am or 12pm to 2pm (Meal packing shifts include the Community Fair)OR Select the Community Fair option to learn more about local nonprofits and government agencies which support our community between 9AM and 12:30PM. \n\n\n\nAdvance registration is required for each attendee\, whether packing meals or not. *You must attend only the shift for which you are registered. If you are not packing meals\, select the “Community Fair Only” option. Food packing is appropriate for adults and children 10 years and older. All children and teens under age 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult. No more than two children per adult can be registered.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in honoring our Veterans with a meaningful swim event that celebrates life\, strength\, and community. \n\n\n\nSwim 18 lengths (450 meters) in tribute to the brave men and women who have served. Each participant who completes the swim will receive a medal or ribbon. \n\n\n\nWall of Honor – Write the name of a Veteran for whom you are swimming and have it displayed on the pool deck. \n\n\n\nFamilies – Join us to write cards for veterans. Kids can create cards with heartfelt messages of thanks for veterans’ service. \n\n\n\nLight refreshments available in the pool overlook area. \n\n\n\nNon-member veterans and their families are welcome to attend without purchasing a day pass. You’ll be required to present your ID when entering the J.
